Through August 14th, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City is hosting a film program titled Unaccompanied Minors, looking at the role of emancipated youth in film history. The program features classics like Vittorio De Sica’s Bicycle Thieves (1948) and Francois Truffaut’s The 400 Blows (1959) alongside Public School Exercises and Recreation, (1911) a film produced by the Edison Company about a day at P.S. 41, or A Day At The Beach (1951) a documentary short that follows city kids on their seaside daytrip to Long Island.
