Quinceañera (which translates literally as one who is fifteen) is a celebration of a girl’s fifteenth birthday, and marks her transition from childhood to adulthood. In Cuba, Quinceañera parties often have large, choreographed group dances sometimes involving as many as fourteen couples. These photographs were taken in 1997 in Havana, by Abbas.
